Can you have lips done without looking BOTCHED

As we age, our lips become less full and lines appear on and around the lips. Although very common, it is undesirable for many people. Addressing this problem has to be done with dermal filler. Yet this “fills” us with fear and why?

Lesley Ash started the fear factor when she sadly trusted an unknown practitioner to take a needle and syringe to her lips and as a consequence of not doing her homework and relying simply on “trust” she had a botched job that will go down in history.

The practitioner is the key here, not dermal filler. A couple of years after her trout pout hell, Lesley revealed all in a documentary which I watched over and over to get the true story of what actually went wrong. A syringe of deadly life damaging “Silicon” was administered by the so called “practitioner” after Lesley said yes to the procedure without signing consent forms, having photography taken, failing to have a thorough consultation assessment and not even getting the practitioners contact telephone number, WOW.

If you want to achieve bigger lips or soften the lip lines that comes with age, you can ! Done subtly by a highly skilled practitioner, your lips and mouth can look so natural that no one will ever guess that you have had your lips augmented and envy you for having beautiful natural plump lips.

In order to achieve this, it is best opting for a conservative approach first time and having a further procedure at a later date. Rome wasn't built in a day and the same applies to lips too! You CAN NOT have big lips in one session, they need to be built up gradually when a natural fibrosis occurs which leaves a residual filler that helps the next filler to bind onto. Repeated treatments with the same amount of filler will make the lips bigger with each subsequent session. I would strongly recommend that this is achieved by using the same practitioner.

Hopping from one practitioner to another is a “MAJOR MISTAKE” as there are so many unqualified or inexperienced practitioners injecting lip filler in the wrong place. Should you go to another practitioner who attempts to put it right, and performs their own technique, it will all go horribly wrong as “putting it right” is impossible. In this instance, I would recommend that the dermal filler is removed by injecting the enzyme Hyalase and starting from scratch.

To improve the lips in a natural way, I contour the lip line only, achieving a soft edge and this also helps to soften smoker’s or vertical lipstick bleeding lines. I also use a procedure that stops the filler from infiltrating into the muscle on the moustache area that creates the “trout pout” or “monkey mouth” look, that us natural girls desperately aim to avoid. Administering dermal filler to smokers lines above the lip is a NO NO but sadly so many inexperienced practitioners do. However, you can achieve a beautiful pleasing result by using a non dermal filler product like viscoderm hydrobooster which will remedy these pesky vertical lines without the plumpness. Knowing your products and having experience of injecting day in and day out is the answer here. And I can't preach enough about the need for assessing your facial features, sizes and distance ratios to ensure that any enhancement is appropriate for you.

To conclude: I am firmly against this over filled trout pout look and thickened moustache area. As with all aesthetic procedures, it amazes me why you would want the “unnatural look” and for people to see that you have had something done, instead of letting people think that you are just a natural beauty.

As we are approaching valentines day, lip augmentations are very popular as people crave “kissable lips”. Do have your lips done, but you must be careful out there and check out your chosen practitioner very very carefully.
