Who is suitable... More Info

Ideally we need to obtain our vitamins, minerals and amino acids the old fashioned way - "from food" - by eating a well balalnced diet. But sadly with modern day life this is not always possible and more and more people are eating poor unhealhy diets and suffering with symptoms of nutritional deficiencies. Many health problems as a result are going untreated and people are suffering with tiredness, feeling out of sorts and cant shake off recurrent cold, viruses and infections.

Many patients feel the benefit of intravenous micronutrients during their treatment session making you feel refreshed, energised and revitalised.

The process... More Info... More Info

An initial consultation with Karen is required and you will have a comprehensive medical and health assessment. Karen will determine what vitamins, minerals and amino acids you require and discuss the treatment plan with you in detail.

An anaesthetic cream will be applied to your arm to ensure the procedure is pain free. A tiny needle will be inserted into a vein in your arm and attached to your drip. A nurse will stay with you during your infusion.

You can have an infusion every 8 to 12 weeks or come in sooner if you feel that you need a top up. In the majority of cases it can take 2 to 3 months to reverse serious deficiencies.

Who would benefit... More Info... More Info

Individuals who have an ongoing medical illness, feeling low in energy, dehydrated, have symptoms of nutritional deficiencies, are prone to recurrent infections and colds, lead a hectic lifestyle, have a stressful job, poor sleepers or those who have a poor diet: may benefit from an infusion packed with essential vitamins and minerals. Many of our patients have some type of gastric complaint such as poor digestion, food intolerances, acid reflux and mal-absorption conditions like crohns and coeliac disease that decrease the intestinal breakdown of nutrients from food causing nutritional deficiencies. However, the majority of our clients are people wishing to fight fatigue, boost energy, improve general health, boost immunity or anyone recovering from a cold or illness.

What are antioxidants

Antioxidants are powerful substances that can be found in some foods like fruit and vegetables and they prevent the oxidation of free radicals in the body. The body naturally produces free radicals which can be harmful and they also come from our highly polluted environment. If free radicals are left in the body they can cause a wide range of illness and chronic disease. Antioxidants neutralize and remove harmful free radicals from the bloodstream. Therefore, it is essential that our body has a constant and maximum supply of antioxidants. If your diet is lacking antioxidants you may benefit from boosting your antioxidant intake by having them intravenously.

Remember, vitamins are our antioxidants !

How to boost your immune system with IV vitamin, mineral and amino acid infusions

Our immune system has the important job of defending the body against disease causing micro-organisms. A poorly nourished immune system will fail and germs can invade the body and cause ill health and disease. However, when the immune system is getting the right amount of vitamins and other vital micronutrients, you can prevent ill health by boosting your immune response.

Boosting your immune system can be very complicated as there are so many different micronutrients that it requires and all in varying amounts. Karen is a nurse and a medical nutritionist making her suitable qualified to determine what you may be lacking and she can tailor for you an intravenous bag with each nutrient your body requires.

Vitamin deficiencies

Vitamin deficiencies usually develop slowly over several months or years. Symptoms are subtle at first and become more troublesome to health as the deficiency worsens and increases your risk of developing many health problems. Most people are unaware that certain ailments are due to nutritional deficiencies and they go untreated.

Research has shown that aproximately 90% of people are nutrient deficient and 50% of those people are taking multivitamin supplements.

We all have signs and symptoms of deficiencies and most of us do nothing but suffer and get on with it - WHY ?

Don't you want to be deficiency symptom free, have plenty of energy and maintain good health ?

What is malabsorption syndrome

The main role of your intestines is to absorb nutrients from your food and pass them into your bloodstream where they enter cells. Malabsorption syndrome refers to a number of bowel disorders in which the small intestine can’t absorb enough of certain nutrients. Eating all the nutrients your body requires without exacerbating a bowel condition can be very difficult, hence the majority of sufferers of bowel conditions have anaemia and deficiencies in vitamins A,C,D, B12 and folate, calcium, iron and zinc mainly.

When you have a condition that prevents the bowel from absorbing essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids from your food, it is sensible to enter these micronutrients directly into the blood stream intravenously.

Intravenous drips are an excellent way of getting these essential micronutrients directly and instantly into your cells.

Signs and symptoms of vitamin and mineral deficiencies are:

  • Fatigue no energy and muscle weakness
  • Personality changes, low in mood and mood swings
  • Forgetfullness, poor attention span and fog brain
  • Pale or yellowish coloured skin
  • Irregular heartbeats
  • Weight loss
  • Numbness or tingling in your hands and feet
  • Dizziness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Unsteady movements
  • Recurrent illnesses, cold, viruses and infections
  • Hair loss, brittle nails, cracked skin

Please note there may be a medical reason for some of the above symptoms, Karen will routinely perform a medical assessment and advise you accordingly.

What are minerals and why are they important ?

Scientists have identifies 16 minerals that are essential for the body to function properly. Minerals strengthen teeth, bones, maintain the immune system and help vitamins to do their work. Minerals such as calcium, magnesium and sodium are required in large amounts, zinc, iron and selenium are required in lesser amounts and minerals like manganese and iodine are needed in much smaller quantities. Minerals are found in foods, however, if the mineral intake levels are low, the body will draw what it needs from the liver, muscles and the bones depleting essential stores leading to conditions like muscle spasm and bone density loss.

Deficiencies in all minerals have consequences such as a zinc deficiency can increase the body's risk of getting infections.

16 minerals are classed as being essential for the body to function properly.

Karen can advise you on what minerals may benefit you.

What are amino acids and why are they important ?

Amino acids are absolutely essential for every metabolic process in the body. They have very important tasks including transporting and storing of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fats and carbohydrates. About 20 amino acids are linked to various body processes but 8 amino acids are essential because the body does not make them and we have to obtain them from our food. This predisposes us to developing deficiencies leading to our bodies not working efficiently.

High cholesterol, arthritis, obesity (fat burning), hair loss, wrinkle formation, osteoporosis, poor sleep, menopause and mood inbalance etc, can all be as a result of low amino acid levels causing metabolic disturbances.

Due to poor diets and low nutrient foods, we can not always ensure our diets have sufficient quantities of amino acids. Having amino acids intravenously will deliver 100% into the bloodstream. This is why having them intravenously is highly recommended.

Our drips include the following amino acids:

  • Arginine
  • Carnitine
  • Choline
  • Cysteine
  • Glutamine
  • Glycine
  • Lysine
  • Methionine
  • Ornithine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Taurine
  • Glutathione

Intravenous vitamins OR oral vitamins ?

An intravenous infusion instantly delivers 100% of each vitamin directly into your bloodstream and straight to your cells where the nutrients are needed. Our drips have an abundance of vitamins that are effective immediately. Only 15% of a vitamin tablet is absorbed and this is a proven fact.

1 in 3 people take oral vitamins. Taking vitamins orally takes time, as the intestines have to break down the tablet and through a lengthy complex process, transport the vitamin into the bloodstream. During this process aproximately 85% of the vitamin is lost and never reaches the cells.

There are certain factors that hinder intestinal absorption of not only vitamin supplements but oral food intake too, such as the following:

  • Intestinal malabsorption conditions such as IBS, inflammatory bowel conditions like Crohns, Coeliac disease, ulcerative colitis etc
  • Smoking
  • Excess alcohol
  • Some medications such as anti inflammatory drugs
  • Gastric bugs mainly E.Coli, gastroenteritis and clostridium
  • Diarhhoea

Oral supplements are good to enhance a well balanced diet and for those who have no nutritional deficiency symptoms and are at peak health and fitness. However, for those who are not, intravenous vitamin treatments should be a consideration.

All the drips at North Wales Aesthetics Clinic are scientifically proven after decades of research and developed by a team of leading doctors, neuropathic doctors and nutritionists to combine safety, effectiveness and minimal side effects.
