Our COVID-19 Secure Protocol

Our COVID-19 Secure Protocol

Statement from Karen

As a public-facing businesses, here are the steps we have taken to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and the wider public, to prevent COVID-19-virus from entering the facility, spreading within the facility and spreading to outside the facility, and how we meet all the Covid-19 secure regulatory guidelines and legislation during clinic opening.

We are aware that this protocol may seem overly cautious and unduly strict, but it simply reflects the seriousness of the situation and our duty to operate with health and safety as our priority.

Led by myself Karen Johnson, my firm focus is on the safety of everyone who attends my clinic.
I and my team are absolutely confident that we have put in place the right measures to enforce this.

First and foremost, the implementation of new routines of working and a different format for delivering treatments, is central to providing the safest and best possible service to our patients.

As nurses, it is our absolute responsibility to actively work to prevent and control infections and this includes Covid-19. Fundamental changes have been made to our infection prevention and control protocols and policies, ensuring that we are Covid-19 secure.

In view of this, where a 2 meter social distancing is impossible, minimising the chances of exposure and spread of Covid-19, the use of full medical grade PPE (personal protective equipment) will significantly reduce the risks that cannot be adequately controlled in other ways.

In order to carry out all treatments that we offer, including high risk procedures, we have invested in air powered purification respirators for all staff, which offers the most advanced protection against transmitting and spreading covid-19.

Due to the nature of the business, North Wales Aesthetics Clinic is now a “no touch clinical environment”. This means that you will be unable to touch any surfaces at all, lowering the environmental contamination rate and enhancing our hygiene levels. You don't have to worry about this, staff will advise you what to do, every step of the way.

Although we have a zero infection rate, we have still put in place higher levels of Covid-19 sanitation, with extra cleaning and disinfecting. Day in and day out, it is routine for the clinic team to adhere to strict and exceptional medical grade cleaning practices. We will continue to work tirelessly towards keeping everyone safe with these additional measures.

We are keeping up to date with government, the health authority, our industry and the world health organisation guidance, and will respond and change how the company operates accordingly.

In this situation, our new plans will be ongoing for a prolonged period while coronavirus is still in circulation.

Thank you sincerely for your patience and co-operation at this time.

We hope everybody is staying safe and well.

In order to reduce the health risk and to run the clinic efficiently, we have implement the following protocol:

Prior to booking an appointment

  • We are politely asking all patients not to book an appointment, or to cancel your appointment, should you feel unwell, or if you, or any member of your family, have any respiratory symptoms. We will of course rebook your appointment following an isolation period. Cancelling your appointment on the day for this reason, will not result in a penalty.

Covid-19 symptoms include: shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, temperature, shaking with chills, headache, muscle pain, sore throat.

Attending the clinic for your appointment

  • We ask that you come by car, walking or cycle, please do not use public transport.
  • Please arrive on time. We reserve the right to refuse to see anyone who attends the clinic late.
  • Please attend the clinic unaccompanied. We are only allowing one accompanying person if absolutely necessary, for example for medical needs, under the age of 18, immobility or translator.
  • Please do not bring personal possessions you bring with you such as bags, mobile phone and coat. The clinic may reserve the right to prevent personal items entering the clinic.
  • Alert staff of your arrival by using the telephone entry system. You may be asked to return to your car until we are ready for you. Please keep your mobile phone with you so we can contact you.
  • Please do not congregate outside the clinic door.
  • Following supervised hand washing, patients are taken straight into the treatment rooms, this also eliminates contact with another patient.

Covid-19 enhanced medical grade disinfection processes

  • You will be asked to wash your hands upon entering the clinic and before leaving.
  • Hand sanitiser gel will be provided to you several times during your journey around the clinic. For example, staff will dispense hand sanitizer onto patients hands when entering and leaving rooms.
  • A deep decontamination will take place in between every patient of the treatment rooms and all areas that patients have passed through by a fogging/misting process. Producing a large volume of fine mist which lands on surfaces and reaches all areas leaving surfaces highly santitised, germ and virus free. This is in accordance with our revised infection prevention and control policy and increased sanitation and decontamination measures. These measures will be reviewed and updated in accordance with government and public health guidelines.

All treatments are available

  • In order to perform all treatments that we offer, safely, and avoid reducing our services, all staff are wearing advanced PPE in the form of powered air purifying respirators or helmets. These are specifically designed for virus protection in the healthcare sector. The respirators offer the highest level of TH3 PR SL (P3) particulate protection, the highest rate of protection on the market, with a higher assigned protection factor of 40 APF compared to traditional FFP3 respirators (20 APF). Other PPE routinely worn by our staff are, gowns or aprons with arm sleeves, theatre caps, masks, visors and gloves. The level of PPE will be determined by the answers you provide when staff triage you prior to entering the clinic.

Dermatology and chemical skin peel patients

  • Please wash the area to be assessed or treated and do not wear any makeup, moisturiser or prescription creams. This will minimise the time that staff will be in close contact with you.

Extended opening hours

  • Each day the clinic will be open for longer hours so that we can space out appointments for deep cleaning of the facility in-between patients.

Toilet facilities

  • Toilet facilities are available only if absolutely necessary.

Social distancing measures

  • When you do come into the clinic, please adhere to the 2 m social distancing rule. There are signs and tapes on the floors to guide you.

  • Ensuring all safety measures are adhered to, patents and visitors are accompanied by a member of staff at all times while in the clinic.
  • Following supervised hand washing, patients are taken straight into a treatment room.

Staff PPE (personal protective equipment)

  • All members of staff will be wearing a range of PPE including powered air purifying respirators, waterproof disposable single use face mask, face shield, theatre cap, apron, over-sleeves and gloves at all times.
  • During procedures where close contact will be necessary, staff will be wearing powered air purifying respirators (higher than FFP3 grade), theatre cap, gown and gloves.
  • The level of PPE is worn in accordance with the grade of procedure or treatment received.
  • Fresh clean PPE is used for each patient and for each cleaning/decontamination process.
  • Some patients will be provided with a mask and gloves.
  • Our staff are highly trained in protective measures and are providing the highest level of infection prevention and control at all times.
