Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers like Restylane are used to plump up tissue volume loss, soften and contour lines, folds and wrinkles. The filler is injected into the skin producing volume and plumpness to wrinkles being treated.

Karen uses the Restylane range of dermal fillers which are FDA approved, totally natural, non-visible and non-animal products, the ideal treatment for instant and long lasting effects to enhance your looks in a completely natural way.

Where can dermal fillers be used?

Karen is advanced trained and experienced in treating the following areas.

  • Add volume to cheeks and mid face
  • Tear trough under the eyes
  • Nasolabial lines
  • Lift and straighten the corners of the mouth
  • Redefine the jawline to smooth jowls and contour / firm the jaw line
  • Soften top lip lines
  • Create fuller lips
  • Soften chin creases and chin defining
  • Add volume to a small receding chin
  • Straighten noses and reduce nose bumps
  • Lift and smooth scars
  • Soften neck lines
  • Smooth crepey skin on the cheeks, chin, neck, hands and chests (the liquid face lift)
  • Create a mid and lower face lift using the Y and T techniques

Cost of treatments

Prices depend on the amount of treatment materials required and how deep your lines are. Discounts are considerable for multiple treatments. Treatment can be done in stages which will also allow you to spread the cost. Consultation, medical assessment and photographs are free.

How we minimized bruising and swelling:

Karen is one of the few aesthetic consultants in the UK who regularly uses a cannula to place the dermal filler. This is a way of introducing the Restylane range of dermal fillers into the skin. Unlike a sharp needle the cannula is blunt ended reducing tissue, nerve or blood vessels trauma and decreasing the amount of swelling and the risk of bruising. It is virtually painless too. You will have less injection entry points as the long cannula will reach a wide area and can be moved around in different directions without discomfort. Karen and her patients are delighted with the results of “cannula versus needle".

Advanced dermal filler treatments

Karen is an advanced trained aesthetic consultant and she routinely performs treatments of dermal fillers to correct facial deformities and imperfections. Any advanced treatment should be performed by a highly trained and experienced injector as skilled placement of the dermal filler is vital.

Tear trough treatment

Tear troughs or periocular depression is the groove at the junction between the lower eye lid and the cheek. As we age it is common to see the appearance of a hollow or trough in this area and a gradual darkening of the circles under and around the eyes. This also gives us that tired all day look. When tear trough deformities are present, dermal filler is injected precisely into the area to lift and correct with immediate results.

Swelling and bruising are a side effect post tear trough treatment, however, Karen uses a cannula to precisely place the dermal filler which reduces the risk of these common side effects.

Building up a small chin and redefining the jaw line

Dermal filler is an excellent remedy for naturally adding volume to sagging skin or to areas that require building up such as the cheeks, jaw line and the chin.

Choosing the right practitioner

For a natural looking result you need expert precise placement of the dermal filler and an experienced skilled practitioner is essential. Prior to having treatment you will have a one to one consultation with Karen and you will see a comprehensive range of before and after photographs of Karen’s work. This allows you to determine yourself if you would like to proceed to having treatment by Karen at North Wales Aesthetics Clinic.

Before your treatment

A consultation with Karen will help you to decide on what are your requirements and expectations and you can see a series of before and after photographs and videos of some of Karen's clients who have had treatment, to allow you to see the standard of her work and what you can achieve. (Clients who allow us to use their before and after photography and video's have given consent). You will also have before and after photographs taken so that you can see the full effect of your treatment. Treatments take 20 minutes to an hour and the effects can be seen immediately. Typical side effects such as bruising and swelling will resolve within a few days.

Karen uses a cannula to introduce the dermal filler instead of a needle which reduces the risk of bruising considerable.

After your treatment:

Immediately after your treatment you may have swelling, bruising, redness and occasional discomfort and itching. These typical side effects will resolve within a few days. Karen uses a cannula to introduce the filler instead of a needle which reduces the risk of bruising considerable. A touch up treatment within 3-4 weeks may be necessary to achieve desired effect.

Pain relief:

Restylane dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic for a more comfortable procedure. Introducing dermal filler into the tissues is not painful, but various pain relief is available including injectable anaesthetic.

Dermal filler correction

Very sadly we frequently have people coming to our clinic who have had a bad treatment performed elsewhere seeking our help to correct poor results. There is an increasing number of practitioners who have little or no experience or training in injecting dermal fillers and can cause devastation.

If you have had dermal filler treatment performed elsewhere and the treatment has gone wrong leaving you unhappy with the results, Karen is trained to use Hyalase a product that can dissolve the dermal filler and reverse the effects.

We understand how distressing it can be to have a bad treatment but please dont dispair Karen can correct the following:

  • Over done lips
  • Uneven or lumpy lips
  • Excessive and overdone puffy apperance
  • Uneven lopsided cheeks
  • Lumps and bumps
  • Visable filler leaving a grey or blue tinge to the skin
  • Dents, hollows, puckering and uneven texture

Due to the expertise required to use Hyalase this treatment has to be performed by a highly skilled and experienced practitioner.
