Do you wash your face properly?

Do you wash your face properly?

Well you may think you do, but every day I am horrified when people tell me how they wash their face and what they use.

How you wash your face is very important if you want to have clear bright radiant healthy looking skin. On a daily basis, we expose our skins to environmental pollutants, dirt, dust, the weather and bacteria from our hands. It goes without saying, in view of this, we need to wash our faces twice a day and very thoroughly!

Without having a good thorough wash, the skin will have a build up of the above and this will lead to spot break outs, dull skin, irritations, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture and over time - premature ageing.

Washing your face is the most important part of your beauty regime. And I can bet, that the majority of you DO NOT wash your face properly.

One of the most important steps to a good face wash is removing your make up. Using a wipe, will not do this, it will push the make up particles deep into the pores clogging them. You must use an oil free, alcohol free, fragrance free cleanser that contains glycolic and salicylic acid which will ex-foliate the skin as you clean it. Use warm water and apply your cleanser to a damp cotton pad and away you go. Rub gently in various directions to lift the debris from the pores and remember to wash your whole face. Wash for 5 minutes then rinse well.

And finally, dry by rubbing gently with a ribbed or patterned towel which will aid the removal of dead skin.

Now you can apply your water based sun block (for day time) and moisturiser (for day and night).

At North Wales Aesthetics Clinic, we take skin care very seriously and I preach continuously every day to my clients who need advice on their skin regime. Therefore it is with pleasures that I am happy to see anyone who would like a demonstration of how to wash your face properly and advice on what cleanser is best for you.
